Development of complex Earth remote probing data processing system using Grid technologies

Executor from Ukraine is Space Research Institute of NANU-NSAU, one from Belarus is United Institute of Informatics Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

The project is aimed to develop Grid system which should consolidate available resources of UIIP of NANB and SRI of NANU-NASU for complex processing of Earth remote probing data. The system should provide real-time processing of multi-spectral data supplied by Earth remote probing satelites.

The main purpose of project is creation of applications necessary for solving following problems: restoring distorted by noise images,
object or image reconstruction, quality improvement and smoothing, detection of brightness drops and lines, textural analysis, area
segmentation and image recognition, transformation of halftone images, geometrical transformations and topographic binding.

Proposed approach consists in designing general infrastructure of virtual organization, which will consolidate available computational and informational resoources of Ukrainian and Belorussian sides using Grid technologies and will create base for introduction of parallel ERP data processing. Use of Grid technologies guaranties getting easy controlled and scalable system which provides ability to implement more complex algorithms and methods for processing remote probing data.

In progress of the project execution following results will be obtained:

  • Infrastructure, which consolidates computational resources and is able to process EPR data effectively in parallel mode.
  • Libraries of applicable functions for parallel data processing meant for ERP data processing including pre-processing, textural
    analysis, geographical binding, geometrical transformations, etc.
  • Grid services based on libraries of applicable functions for ERP data processing in parallel computations environment based on
    available infrastructure.
  • Methods and software for operation in automatic mode.
