Current achievements
The results achieved up to now within the project are as follows:- Support in transferring grid based NWP know-how from Slovakia to Ukraine;
- Developed novel services for job execution and job orchestration (workflows);
- Optimal set of data sources for NWP data assimilation system was defined. For assimilation purposes it is advisable to use data acquired from meteorological satellites such as Meteosat Second Generation (MSG), MetOp-1 and NOAA;
- Automatic data providing system for retrieving satellite data products from IKI RAN archive was implemented;
- These data are remotely accessed via standard OGC interfaces in order to assimilate data in NWP model;
- An intelligent method for automatic adaptation of complex models was developed and approbated for adaptation of WRF model for the territory of Ukraine. In order to estimate quality of adapted WRF model, experiments were run to compare results of meteorological parameters prediction by WRF model with ground measurements from meteorological station. As for surface temperature, the difference between WRF predicted values and real ground measurements was not exceeding 2°C.
- The deployment of UMN Mapserver v5.0 in the virtualized environment (based on the OpenVZ platform) was performed. The mapserver is accessible as host mapserver.ikd.kiev.ua;
- UMN Mapserver was tuned to serve WMS, WFS and WCS data layers for raster and vector data. Spatial indexing for mosaics was done by the means of PostGIS spatial extension for PostgreSQL database.
- OGSA-DAI data services container was successfully deployed on the Grid node of SRI NASU-NSAU (gt.ikd.kiev.ua). Development of geospatial data formats accessors is in progress.
- Data visualization services integrate data products from SRI NASU-NSAU and SDSS of IKI RAN using OGC WMS queries;
- ISO19115 profile for using in WAG and top-level archives of Ukrainian GEOSS segment was developed;
- Data inter-exchange between SRI NASU NSAU and SDSS of IKI RAN by establishing partial data replication between organisations was performed;
- Project's Web site was developed providing information on project's objectives, tasks, participants, current achievements, etc;
- Organization of special workshop INTAS-CNES-NSAU "Data Fusion Grid Infrastructure" within Fifth Opened All-Russia Conference "Current Aspects Of Remote Sensing Of Earth From Space";
- The result of the project were presented on Fifth Opened All-Russia Conference "Current Aspects Of Remote Sensing Of Earth From Space" , 7-th Ukrainian Conference on Space Research, International Exhibition on Information Technologies CEBIT-2007 (Hanover, Germany), on CEOS WGISS-23 and WGISS-24 meetings, EU-China Workshop on Earth Observation Grid Technology and Next Generation Spatial Information Infrastructure (Beijing, China).
