Interagency meeting Studying ways to achieve Neutral Land Degradation and to establish appropriate national objectives

On the 3-d of March 2017 representatives of Space Research Institute NASU-SSAU participated in interagency meeting Studying ways to achieve Neutral Land Degradation and to establish appropriate national objectives, supported by United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification.

Deputy director of the Institute Prof. Nataliia Kussul presented on Analysis and validation of global datasets over the territory of Ukraine from international sources, the prospects of use of Remote Sensing data. Within this presentation the comparative analysis of global and regional sustainable development indicators ( trends in land cover (vegetative land cover) and trends in land productivity (land productivity dynamics)) over the terrotory of Ukraine was performed. Achievements of SRI NASU-SSAU in the area of regional sustainable development indicators were highlighted.

These indicators of ensuring of Land Degradation Neutrality were selected within such UNO Programmes as Global Support Programme and Land Degradation Neutrality Target Setting Programme. Global datasets received from Joint Research Centre and European Space Agancy, regional datasets - from Space Research Institute NASU-SSAU.
