On May, 6, 2014 Intersectoral meeting on the use of Earth observations for sustainable development of the agricultural sector and food security of Ukraine has been held at the State Space Agency of Ukraine, Kyiv, Ukraine.

During the meeting the following questions have been discussed:

1. Global agricultural monitoring initiatives. In particular, GEO GEOGLAM, JECAM, AMIS and JRS MARS.
2. Participation of Ukraine in international projects and initiatives. State of the art.
3. Panel discussion: future steps to join the GEOGLAM initiative and creation of regional crop monitoring system.
4. Discussion on the possible funding sources.


During the discussion the following resolution has been made:

1. Consider it necessary to hold the meeting on Ukrainian participation in international initiatives GEOGLAM, JECAM, MARS and AMIS in the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, chaired by the deputy minister.
2. To support the conduction of regional international meeting on GEOGLAM initiative for the countries of Eastern Europe with the participation of State Space Agency of Ukraine and Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
3. To initiate the meeting of the Public Council of Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine in order to implement the usage of Earth Observations for food security policy in Ukraine.
4. To suggest to State Space Agency of Ukraine and Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine to explore the possibility of preparing satellite agro monitoring investment projects. In particular, under the preparations for U.S.-Ukraine Business Summit in order to enhance U.S.-Ukraine trade and economic investment cooperation.
