After the speech of Natalіia Kussul, Professor of the Department of Mathematical Modeling and Data Analysis, on the online broadcast «Scientific SuperNova 2» on the occasion of World Science Day for Peace and Development, bright stars of science do not leave thoughts about the future built by Ukrainian scientists.
They talked about the results of the project of the National Research Fund of Ukraine and the Institute of Space Research of the NAS of Ukraine and SCA of Ukraine 2020.01/0268 «Information technology for fire risk assessment and fire monitoring in natural ecosystems based on satellite data», which is also working and employees of NTTU «Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute».
In 2021, the media was shocked by the information that our planet is on fire, and Ukraine is no exception. Due to the inability to record the exact number of fires using satellite data with low spatial resolution, a project was born, the end result of which is an improved Fire Weather Index, to which is added a shortage of moisture.
Among the prospects are the digitalization of the economy and support for decision-making by public authorities, as well as preparation for possible adverse situations not only in relation to fires, but also in relation to various aspects of our existence.
