The British company DeepMind Technologies Limited has created a system based on artificial intelligence AlphaCode.
The company claims that their system writes computer programs at a «competitive level».
It is noted that the subsidiary Alphabet tested its system during a competition to solve a dozen programming tasks, which also involved 5,000 ordinary people-programmers.
As a result, the system got to 54% of the best programmers.
DeepMind points out that while this result is a significant step forward for stand-alone coding, AlphaCode skills do not necessarily correspond to the type of programming tasks that the average programmer faces.
