Our article on air quality monitoring based on satellite data in the magazine has been published «Remote Sensing» from the publisher MDPI.
We have developed for Ukraine a methodology for estimating the content of PM10 and PM2.5 pollutants in the air based on data from the European Space Agency’s Copernicus program. A similar atmospheric monitoring methodology was developed for Europe in the SMURBS project, but it cannot be used in Ukraine due to the lack of input data for the model. Currently, for Ukraine, it is adapted to the available input data using intelligent models and validated by ground-based observations. This allowed Ukraine to be included in the European Monitoring System for Indicator 11.6.2 and to compare air quality with European countries.
As a result of the study, it is clear that air quality in Ukraine is at the level of Hungary and Romania, better than in Poland and worse than in France. The article is publicly available, as the journal is indexed in the Scopus scientometric database and is included in the first quartile of Q1.
