A colleague of the department presented our work at the IGARSS 2023 conference

Our colleague, a PhD student at the University of Maryland, Leonid Shumilo, presented our work at the IGARSS 2023 conference. The work is devoted to monitoring land degradation using satellite data and was carried out within the framework of the European e-shape project and the project of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine. Thanks to the obtained degradation maps, changes at the level of Ukrainian regions were analyzed, which led to the conclusion that in 2022 there was a significant deterioration in land quality compared to previous years. The proposed technology for assessing land quality can be used for any country in the world and is a confident step towards the development of scientific activity!
