The best young scientist of the Academy

Senior Researcher at the Department of Space Information Technologies and Systems of the Space Research Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the State Space Agency of Ukraine, а successful graduate of our Department of Mathematical Modeling and Data Analysis KPI, the first PhD in Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, a cool specialist in machine learning and satellite intelligence Mykola Lavreniuk was recognized as one of the 20 best young scientists by the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in 2023. The annual competition “The Best Young Scientist of the Academy” was launched and implemented by the Council of Young Scientists of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine to support talented young scientists, and we are proud that Mykola became one of the winners. Moreover, we did not even doubt him! Mykola is an active participant and leader of many national and international projects, the results of which have been published in international journals and presented at international conferences. In addition, Mykola participates in various machine learning competitions and demonstrates excellent results. In particular, he has 3 silver and 1 bronze medals on the Kaggle platform, and is among the top 1000 best specialists in the world in machine and deep learning. He also won first, second, and third places in 3 different competitions on the AICrowd platform. The last competition was held in 2023 for the best solution to the problem of semantic segmentation and depth detection from drone photos for Amazon to help them solve the problem of understanding the 3D scene under the drone for their Amazon Prime Air drone parcel delivery project. We are proud!
