December 11, 2019 at the Great Conference Hall of the NAS of Ukraine with the participation of the Space Research Institute of the NAS of Ukraine and the State Academy of Science of Ukraine, GEO-Ukraine National Committee, Space Research Council of NAS of Ukraine and State Space Agency of Ukraine held a workshop on the topic “New opportunities of space obdervation: GLOBAL SYSTEM OF SYSTEMS GEOSS AND UKRAINE !”
The main points of discussion were: monitoring of agricultural resources evaluation indicators achieving sustainable development goals (SDG) and assessment of the environment.
Specific work is being carried out in the context of the ERA-PLANET project (#SMURBS and #GEOEssential) of the #Horizon2020 program, which is part of Europe’s contribution to GEOSS.
The use of geospatial data is successfully implemented in the form of educational projects, trainings and workshops in our laboratory Noosphere Engineering School / Инжиниринговая Школа, which is opened this year.
This year, Ukraine has become part of EuroGEOSS, increasingly integrating into the European Research Area.
Most of SDG-indicators EuroGEOSS use satellite data and also include a land use map calculation algorithm.
Within the framework of the World Bank project “Supporting Transparent Land Use in Ukraine”, high-precision maps were produced in collaboration with EOS and the Space Research Institute of the NAS of Ukraine and the State Academy of Science of Ukraine.
Modern methods of processing satellite data and using high-performance cloud computing resources is a huge step forward for the future of Ukraine!
